Warsaw Wrestling showed a lot of toughness and continued improvement in the prestigious Al Smith Invitational at Mishawaka High School.
The Tigers were short handed because of illness but found more wins in the loaded field than in previous years.
Senior 195-pounder, Brock Hueber went 3-0 on day 1.
Hueber scrapped his way to a 5-1 decision in round one and a 9-4 decision in round two. In the quarterfinals, Hueber needed double overtime to earn a 4-2 victory and a spot in tomorrow’s semifinals.
Junior 145-pounder, Liam Nolin made it to the consolation quarterfinals and one match short of advancing. Nolin went 3-2 for the tournament with two wins by pin and another by major decision.
Andrew Ross (126), Jacob Linky (160), and Angel Mendez (220) each went 2-2 for Warsaw.
Isaiah Owens (132), Chris McAfoose (152), and Jayton Brock (182) each earned wins during the day also.
