Warsaw’s wrestling team competed in a loaded field at the Al Smith Invitational in Mishawaka today.
The Tigers had a solid showing in a a few weight classes, but ultimately failed to qualify anyone for the medal rounds tomorrow.
Jose Grimmett led the Tigers going 3-2.
Grimmett dropped a close overtime decision in the opening round. He then charged back through the consolation bracket but lost in the final round of the evening, just one win from placement.
Andrew Ross and Brock Hueber both went 2-2 for the Tigers.
Ross won his opening round match by pin in the 120 bracket. After a round two loss, he picked up a tight 5-4 decision in the consolation bracket before being eliminated.
Hueber took a first round forfeit at 195 and earned a pin in the consolations between two scrappy losses.
Brandon Estepp went 1-2, earning a pin in the first consolation round at 160.
Other Warsaw wrestlers that picked up wins were Jose Martinez, Isaiah Owens, Jacob Bass, and Kyler Denney.
