In a game between two top-ten teams in the state, 80 minutes would not be enough time to get a winner as Warsaw and Penn played to a 2-2 tie.
Warsaw jumped on the board first as Delaney Taylor took a pass from Audrey Grimm and drilled a shot past the Penn keeper from 22 yards out. Taylor’s goal would be the only goal in the first half.
Penn came out hard at the whistle in the second half, pressing numbers into their attack. The high pressure resulted in two quick goals for the Kingsmen, forcing Warsaw to pick up the pace. Brenna Buhrt took a ball down the right wing and hit a miraculous shot over the Penn goalkeeper and off the bottom of the crossbar before hitting the back of the net. The last ten minutes found both teams furiously searching for a game-winning goal, but neither would find the net.
The tie, Warsaw’s first of the season, moves Warsaw’s record to 8-2-1. The Tigers will play Culver Academy at home this Wednesday at 7:30pm.
