The Warsaw Tigers beat the visiting Merrillville Pirates on Saturday afternoon 60-55. The non-conference match-up featured see-saw first half action. Warsaw began with a 16-2 run in-between the first and second quarters to take a 21-6 lead. Merrillville answered with a 22-0 push of their own to take the lead at 26-21. The Tigers methodically outplayed the Pirates in the third quarter, 15-8, and in the fourth quarter, 19-15, to earn the victory.
Nolan Groninger scored a career high 25 points to go with his 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Wyatt Amiss and Trevor Rumple added 10 and 7 points respectively. Luke Adamiec totaled 6 points and grabbed 3 rebounds. Jaylen Reese chipped in 5 points, Tyler Metzinger added 4, and Blake Marsh rounded out the scoring with 2 points alongside his 3 rebounds.
The Tigers travel to Carmel to take on the 4A #2 Greyhounds next Saturday, February 16.
