The Warsaw boys basketball team defeated a young and plucky Elkhart Central team by outscoring the Blue Blazers 23-10 after getting down 11 points late in the 3rd quarter. After EC knotted the game at 41, the stage was set for another page of Tiger Basketball history to be written. Warsaw ran the clock down, and Blake Marsh drove from the left wing to get off a floating, double-clutching game winner from the left elbow. The final score, 43-41.
Marsh scored 12 points in the game, collected 3 rebounds, and had 2 steals. Tyler Metzinger scored 11 points, none more important than an old-fashioned 3 point play on an offensive rebound putback. Nolan Groninger led the Tigers in rebounds (5) and assists (7) while adding 8 points. Trevor Rumple netted 8 points including 2 treys. Luke Adamiec rounded out the scoring by adding 4 points to go along with 3 rebounds.
The Tigers take on Northridge in Saturday’s sectional final.
