Warsaw spent the entire evening shooting on the Northwood Panther’s goal, but only two shots found the back of the net as the Tigers defeated the 2A #20 Northwood Panthers, 2-0. As the Panther defense continually double-teamed Abby Steffensmeierl, Steffensmeier was able to slide a ball through the back line to connect with Audrey Grimm. Grimm tucked the ball past the Northwood keeper giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead.
The remainder of the game saw Warsaw continually applying pressure to the Northwood defense, but Northwood’s strength in numbers made it difficult for the Tigers to find room to operate. With twenty-three minutes remaining, Gracie Scholl would get the game’s last goal with a shot from just outside the penalty box. Kirstin Parker was credited with the assist.
Jasmine Ochoa made two saves and help lead Warsaw to their first shutout of the season. The Tigers move to 3-1-1 and 2-0 in NLC play. They will return to action Tuesday at Goshen High School at 7:15pm.
