The Warsaw Wrestling team went to Valparaiso to compete in the Valpo Super Duals. The Tigers went 2-3 on the mats, picking up wins against Boone Grove (42-39) and Michigan City (51-36).

Warsaw opened the day with a loss to a tough Kankakee Valley team by a score of 27-52.

The rest of the day saw marked improvement as Warsaw battled out close losses to South Bend Adams (34-40) and an always tough Valparaiso (36-45).

Dillon Estepp had an outstanding day. The Senior Heavyweight went 5-0, pinning his way through the competition.

Jose Grimmett and Isaiah Owens both went 4-1. Grimmett (Jr/145) grabbed four pins and got better as the day went on. Owens (So/106) had 3 pins and a major decision. The only loss for Owens helped secure a team victory for Warsaw as the Tigers led by 6 heading into the final match against Boone Grove. The close 10-13 loss ensures that Warsaw would keep the lead in the team score.

Gavin Truex and Brandon Estepp went 3-2. Truex (Jr/220) earned two pins in his first action of the season. Estepp (Fr/152) has a rough start, but finished the day with pins in the final three rounds.

The Tigers also had five wrestlers pick up two wins. Jose Martinez (Fr/113), Brock Hogenson (So/132), and Brock Hueber (So/195) each had a win by pin. Josh West and Thaddeus Baker also went home with two wins.

Warsaw’s record is now 4-12 for the season. The Tigers will travel to Plymouth for a conference dual on Thursday.
