Tiger Athletics, along with Wawasee High School Athletics, came together this week to earn funds for the Steve Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund, a scholarship to support either a Warsaw or Wawasee student and sponsored through the Kosciusko Community Foundation.

The principal of the school raising the most funds received a pie in the face at halftime of the girls basketball game with Wawasee visiting the Tiger Den on Saturday night – with Mr. Kim Nguyen receiving the tasty treat!  In all, both schools raised nearly $5,000 for the fund.

Steve Jones lost his battle to Multiple Myeloma last January.  The goal is to fully fund a scholarship in his memory with the Kosciusko Community Foundation.  Those interested in contributing to the fund may still do so by contacting the Kosciusko Community Foundation.

Jones was a longtime teacher and coach at both Wawasee and Warsaw, including serving five seasons with the Tiger football program.  He was admired by all that knew him.  His wife Lori is a 3rd-grade teacher at NorthWebster, and his youngest of three children, Molly, is a current junior at Wawasee where she participates in both volleyball and tennis.
