It was an outstanding day spent last week with Joe Harris (pictured left) and Don Dicken (pictured center), honoring Don for his great service with Warsaw Community Schools and Tiger golf.

Joe Harris was offered the boys golf coach position prior to the 1965-66 season and he immediately went to Don to seek assistance. That marked the first of 24 seasons where the duo guided Tiger golf.

The first season the squad went 23-0 and held the state’s top ranking, placing third in the state finals. During the 24 years, the team amassed a 349-95 record with a home mark of 167-24. Their program won 13 NLC championships with 11 titles in a row, and they captured 11 sectionals, 19 regional appearances, one regional title, and nine state finals appearances, including five state-finals appearances that resulted in a top-five finish. The 1988 squad held the state’s No. 1 ranking throughout most of the season.

Joe Harris, who was the head coach of the program, noted that “I credit Don Dincken for helping with the success of the Warsaw Golf program. Don truly is and has been a strong contributor to our community and for that we should all be thankful.”
